Adolescent Psychotherapy (ages 14-17)

ADOLESCENT PSYCHOTHERAPY

Adolescence is filled with strong emotions and a need for independence and individuation. Because of this, it is sometimes difficult to detect when teenagers are struggling with mood, anxiety, or other issues. Moreover, some adolescents might feel apprehensive or ashamed in asking for help. We provide a warm, inclusive, and safe environment for teenagers to explore their feelings and discuss any topic they want. Parents can be part of the therapy process, but adolescents typically attend sessions alone. An integrative approach strongly based in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is used. CBT is a therapeutic approach that focuses on the way our thoughts influence our feelings and behaviours and teaches practical skills to alter unhelpful thinking patterns. Adolescent psychotherapy services include a thorough psychological and psychodiagnostic assessment, treatment planning and psychotherapy.
